Ela Logs · Speech collection

Terms of Participation

The rules for taking part in this speech collection: who can join, how to record, how recordings are reviewed and how much you can contribute.

Effective and last updated 13 August 2026 · Project MSPO-2450

1About these terms

These terms apply to contributors taking part in the Ela Logs speech collection for project MSPO-2450. By taking part you agree to follow them.

These terms are separate from your voice-data consent. Accepting these terms does not give consent to record or process your voice — that is a separate step with its own affirmations, described in the Privacy Notice.

2Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must take part using your own Google account. One person, one account.
  • You must live in, and record from, one of the 44 states approved for this collection. The platform shows you which states are available.
  • You must match the accent/locale group you select and be able to speak naturally in it.

3Accurate information

All information you give — age, gender, location, accent, device and recording conditions — must be truthful. Inaccurate information can invalidate your contributions and may result in removal from the project.

4Your own voice only

  • Every recording must be your own natural speech.
  • No AI-generated, synthetic, cloned or substituted speech, and no recordings of another person.
  • Do not read from a script — answer in your own words.
  • Do not include personal information about yourself or about anyone else in your answers.

5Recording conditions

  • Record in a quiet room with no background music, television or other voices.
  • Use one device for a session, keep the microphone about an arm's length away and keep the same room and setup within a session.
  • Each answer should run about 5.510 seconds.
  • Do not edit, trim, filter or apply noise reduction to recordings you upload; upload the original file in the required format.

6Quality review and acceptance

Every recording goes through automatic quality checks, and recordings may also be reviewed by Ela Logs staff. Reviewers may accept a recording, reject it, or ask you to record that item again.

Recordings that do not meet the requirements are not accepted, and participation does not guarantee that every recording you submit will be accepted. Only accepted recordings count towards your total.

7Contribution limit

The maximum contribution for this project is 450 seconds (7.5 minutes) of accepted audio, across up to 75 answers. Once you reach that limit your participation is complete and no further recordings are accepted.

Taking part again — through another account or another identity — in order to obtain a further allowance is not permitted. Duplicate participation is detected and those recordings are removed.

8Privacy and consent controls

Your recordings are collected and used only under the consent you give before recording. You can review what is collected, withdraw consent or request deletion at any time from the “Your data and choices” page. See the Privacy Notice for the full detail, including how deletion is handled for this release.

9Support

If something is not working, or you have a question about your participation, raise it from the “Your data and choices” page while signed in, or reply to the invitation message you received from the Ela Logs project team.
